Free pattern!, Crochet a cute hippo + vote for me!

I designed this hippo with a picnic scenary for this contest, could you vote for me, if we all join, maybe we can win!!!

I decided to share with you all the free pattern of this cute hippo, and a free tutorial in my Youtube channel, I hope you like it!!!!

  • Bst- Bubble stitch (4hdc together)
  • inc- increase
  • dec- decrease (I use invisible decrease)
  • BLO- Back loop only
  • slst- Slip stich
  • ch- chain
  • R- round
  • RNds- rounds
  • ST- Stitch sts- Stitches
  • [], repeat the pATTERN BETWEEN BRACKETS AS MANY TIMES AS SAID, AND THE TH PATTERN BETWEEN SQUAre brackets.

Head and body:

  • HEAD AND BODY: (you have one hippo of each color)
  • We’ll start from the legs to the head, first we´ll make one leg, cut the yarn, repeat the same pattern to make the other leg, but we won´t cut the yarn and join them.
  • LEGS: (Make 2 as indicated before)
  • R1- 6sc in a mr (6)
  • R2- 6inc (12)
  • R3- (1inc, 3sc) x3 (15)
  • R4-6- (3rnds) 15sc (15)
  • Now cut the yarn of the first leg, crochet the second on the same way, and join:
  • R7- ch2, 1sc in any st of the first leg, 14sc, 2sc in one side of the chains, 15sc in the second leg, 2sc in the other side of the legs (34)

  • Now fold the arm in half, align the sts, and make 4sc, through both sides.
  • Cut the yarn and leave a long tail for sewing (picture 3)

Snout:

  • R1- Starting from second ch from hook, 5sc, 1tr-inc, (continue working by the other side of the ch), 4sc, 1 inc in the last unworked ch. (14)
  • R2- 1inc, 4sc, 3 inc, 4sc, 2inc (20)
  • R3-5- 20sc (20)
  • R6- 1dec, 4sc, 3dec, 4sc, 2dec (14)
  • Cut the yarn and leave a long tail for sewing

Ears:

  • Ears: (Make 2)
  • R1- 6sc in a Mr (6)
  • R2- 6inc (12)
  • R3-5- (3rnds) 12sc (12)
  • Cut the yarn, fold the ear in half, sew it like that, and keep the tail for sewing it to the head later.

Assembly:

  • Sew the snout to the head between rnds 26-31
  • Sew the ears to the head between rnds 36-39
  • Sew the arms to the body between rnds 20-21, 9sts appart.
  • Embroider the nostrils on the snout 4sts apart
